ANTHONY B. THOMPSON
Rev. Anthony B. Thompson is the founder of One New Humanity Charleston and author of Called to Forgive, a powerful memoir on grace and reconciliation following the tragic Emanuel AME Church shooting. A native of Charleston, SC, Rev. Thompson served in the U.S. Navy, earned a B.A. in Secondary Education from Benedict College, and a Master of Divinity from Cummins Theological Seminary.
With over four decades of service in ministry, mentorship, and public service—including 27 years with the SC Department of Probation, Parole and Pardon Services—he has dedicated his life to healing broken communities. A former pastor of both St. Stephen’s and Holy Trinity Reformed Episcopal Churches, he continues to lead conversations on faith, forgiveness, and social justice. Rev. Thompson has been featured on national platforms such as Focus on the Family, CNN, PBS, and the documentary Emanuel. He is a published poet, a passionate advocate for gun safety, and a respected voice for unity across spiritual and racial lines.
Rev. Thompson married Darlene Jackson in 2022. He has three wonderful children and five beautiful grandchildren. His life’s mission reflects his guiding belief: "With God, all things are possible."
